THE RED ADMIRAL
I'm not much of a butterfly painter. This butterfly comes with a story though.......
Yesterday was one of those tough days. We all have them regardless of what's going on in our lives. I had to pick up my mom's death certificate and remains at the funeral home. I found myself just sitting in my room. Just me and my dog Shiner, sitting. So I decided to walk out back to get some fresh air. As I stepped off the last step into the yard, at least 50 butterflies flew out of the bush by the back door. The sweetest smell came from the tiny white flowers of the bush and it was filled with Red Admirals flitting around me and from branch to branch.
My daughter, The Shopkeeper, is in full bloom at work with flower season. She phoned me and said the most wonderful thing had happened at work. As she and a coworker stepped inside one of the greenhouses, it was filled with what they thought was at least 100 butterflies. She's been there I think eight years now and it's never happened before.
We all told mom.........fly free..........thank you mom for that special gift!
