ACEO DAY 234 MISSISSIPPI AND HOMER SIMPSON

When I decided that Mississippi would be the foundation for my ACEO car this morning, I found that the shape of the state, to me, clearly looks like Homer Simpson's profile.  So Homer and Mississippi it is.  For any Simpson fans out there I do not intend to degrade him at all by associating him with the narrow minded conservatism of the state.

My morning ritual is coffee and CNN on the computer, my first news check of the day to see what I've missed.  Not having cable means is must be read not watched.  I'm not so sure that it might actually be the best way to catch the news.

One of the stories that caught my attention this morning was CNN's article "Mississippi lawmakers pass immigration bill".  That along with the chants, "where's your green card", during a basketball game last night, once again brought Mississippi in the spotlight.

I thought Mississippi couldn't sink any lower that they did with Hayley Barbour and his pardons but here they are again.  Gov. Barbour was just replaced by another republican ass, Phil Bryant.  "I would suggest that just because the state can pass that doesn't mean it's a good idea," said Mary Bower, legal director for the SPLC (Southern Poverty Law Center).  But the Governor's spokesman, Mick Bullock, stated "Governor Bryant will not be deterred."

All of this, to me, is unacceptable.  The worst of it though is the chants at a sporting event, "Where's your green card".  I'm not a sports person and each time I hear of something like this is helps confirm my opinion of so many of our narrow minded, ignorant sports enthusiasts.  Where does your common decency come in amidst your thirst for the thrill of the game?
