STICKER SHOCK
I was in my neighborhood Walmart the other day and as I always do, I was looking in the fresh fruit and vegetable bins for something yummy that I could afford. Now I like red delicious okay but it is the low end of appledom. It's not like I wanted a Honey Crisp, Fuji or Jonagold. Well, I wanted those but those were off the shopping list long ago as was most of the items in the produce aisles. As our food prices, along with everything else, go up and up, salaries have not. I know I'm not alone in passing by those once enjoyed yummies that come from the earth. I remember a day when my Christmas stocking came with the toe filled with apples, oranges, grapefruits and nuts. Bet Santa can't do that anymore!
