NORTHERN LIGHTS
Well, the first mushers are getting close to the finish of the 2012 Iditarod. As best I can find there are three mushers on route to Elim, AK. The distance from Elim to Nome is 123 miles. This stretch is expected to take 5 to 7 hours, more if the wind is blowing. The three front runners are running with 11, 12 and 12 dogs respectively. There will be little rest time at the checkpoints now as Dallas Seavey, Aliy Zirkle and Aaron Burmeister race for the win.
I've certainly enjoyed following the race and reading about the little villages and their history along the way. Congratulation goes out to all who are participating! What a great race!
